By 1828, there were 621 Catholics in the area of Rooty Hill, about 25% of a farming population.
1890
In the 1890’s, mass was celebrated four times a year in the homes of the Fern and Leahy Families.
1907
On 14 January 1907, St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School opened staffed by the Sisters of St Joseph.
1915 – 1946
In 26 September 1915, the first foundation stone was laid for the Catholic Church in Rooty Hill at the Adelaide Street site. Priests from Penrith said Mass until 1946 when St Marys became a parish and priests from St Marys said Mass at Rooty Hill.
1956
In 1956, the Parish of Rooty Hill was created by Cardinal Gilroy with Fr John Morreau as appointed parish priest.
1981
In August 1981, the current church building, built by Fr Norm Grady, was opened by Cardinal Freeman.
